When most people hear the word hero they automatically think about Spiderman, Batman, or Ironman. They also think that the hero is typically a man, notice that a lot of hero names end in the word “man”. A hero does not have to be some outstanding person with x-ray vision, spider webs, and invisibility. Heroes in society today do not need any special gadgets or abilities. Heroes in a modern day world would demonstrate qualities such as being confident, vigilant, and selfless. Someone who is confident is comfortable with themselves and their actions. Confidence gives the person that feeling that they can achieve anything they desire. Thinking about things in a positive way and not negative shows confidence. People who don’t abstain from anything have a lot of confidence.” Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.” -Norman Vincent Peale. The quote by Norman Vincent Peale is saying if you believe that you can do something don’t doubt yourself just have confidence that you will succeed. Selfless involves putting others people needs before theirs. Organizations and events that operate shelters for the homeless are people who are not selfish. People who join the army, military, or air force are important examples of selflessness because they risk their lives every day to save and protect a country that they love. “Our prime purpose in this life is to help others.
