Over a thousands of years our image of a hero has changed
So extreme. Early on in the our world a Hero was viewed as someone who brought food home for their familys, Someone who is nonselfish provider and a pure hearted hero. Later on, however, Heroes became something who did good for all people of the world. That's where Superman comes into play. Superman is one of, if not one, most well known Heroes. Yes he was born with super powers, but he is who most people based their main view of a Hero on but really he represents a Super-Hero and people does notice the difference of the two terms. Everybody has a different outlook on a modern hero. Some people think of them as brave romancers, who would do anything for the damsel in distress. Others prefer a brother at arms, rushing into distress for those they love. No matter who it is though, these people expect equality from their “hero.” Nobody imagines a slave owner, or an Ellis Island employee as their hero.…

Every since I got exposed to Medusa on the cartoon show “The Powerpuff Girls” They portrayed her as being this powerful, evil, and sneaky lady and made the snakes rooted in her head represent that as they go crazy and every since then it stuck with me. The majority of people have their own definition of a hero, my definition is, a hero is someone that fights for what they believe in, no matter the consequences. Like Beowulf for example, stood up for the people of Heorot when Grendel started to attack, and he also went after the dragon to protect his people. Another hero to me would be Boo Radley. Both Boo, and Beowulf fought for what they thought was right, and also changed how people thought of them.…

“The Pro-Social Mission” If you think about what a superhero means to you, many answers may fly around like bravery, strength, or power. Very rarely do you ever hear about what exactly makes a superhero, super. In my opinion, I believe it is this pro-social mission that keeps them going on the never ending battle against the fight with evil. A hero can have as many powers or identities that they want to have, but the most important component of their being is that they have a specific goal in mind that will work for the greater good of not only the world, but the entire universe. These other two qualities, power and identity just reinforce who the superhero is.…

Some people do not know that they are even someone’s hero. When a person has the power to stand strong and fight for what they believe in they too can be a hero. These are the type of people that give others hope and save lives each and every day. You do not have to have super powers to save someone, you do not have to be in a position or a career where the main goal is to save someone’s life such as a doctor, a policeman or a firefighter. Heroes can be everyday people, such as a teacher; who teaches kids the everyday essentials of life to grow and be a better person, a parent; who guides and raise their children and protect their children, and even a janitor or trash man; people that help keep the environment clean for our safety and…
