They used her as a maid and would not allow for her to go to Prince’s upcoming ball, as the story goes. There is no godmother, instead the birds do the ugly chore of picking lentils from the fireplace. They then bring Cinderella her shoes and dress. Instead of becoming a peasant child at midnight, she runs home to arrive before her mother and sisters who would surely kill her if they knew. On the second day of the ball, the prince watches Cinderella run away for the second time but on this day, he covered his stairs in sap to be sure her shoe would fall off. When the prince takes the shoe to the house of Cinderella, the stepsisters try desperately to fit into the shoe, they even resort to cutting parts off their feet off. In the end, Cinderella prevails and all of her step-family gets their eyes pecked
