Although there has been great improvement, there is a long road ahead. Prejudice still haunts society like a ghost, as minorities still suffer from discrimination on a daily basis. Whilst African American’s now share the same rights and opportunities, there have been many instances in which they are targeted. For example, police brutality has become a recurring issue in the black community, resulting in countless murders of innocent men, women, and children. The inhumanity is truly baffling ,as the murderers often do not face criminal charges. After the shooting of African American teen Trayvon Martin, the Black Lives Matter Movement emerged, spreading awareness to the issue on a global level. In attempts to end the injustice, activists often hold protests, regarding racial profiling and inequality in the justice system. In order to achieve societal prosperity, we must learn to put our differences aside and live in unity. Ignorance must be replaced with knowledge to create a generation of understanding and acceptance.
