Curtesy and respect go hand in hand. They are both separate and the same thing. Common curtsies are the little things that you do in order to make the world a better place. Common curtsies can range from being honest, to holding the door open for others. There is a large range of different behaviors that can be considered courteous.

Honesty
Curtesy starts with honesty. When people speak with you, they want you to be honest with them. They wouldn’t ask your opinion if they did not value your honesty. Honesty is a hard concept for children to learn because they want to get their way. There will be times when your child lies in order to get something that they want. It is essential that you teach your children that lying is a very bad thing to do. The best way to instill honesty on your child is to practice honesty yourself. Honesty is always the best policy even if it hurts people’s feelings.

Hold the Door Open
Everyone loves it when a charming young person holds the door open for them. We find it charming and we immediately believe that the person is polite. While this might not be true, the action itself shows respect. You should remind your children that holding doors open …show more content…
Children are learning about sharing and working together from a young age. There are going to be times when children are not willing to work together or times when someone gets hurt. These are all natural parts of learning and it is important that as a parent you ensure that your child is prepared to handle these situations. Instruct your child to say they are sorry if they hurt someone even if it is an accident. This will help let everyone involved know that your child understands that what happened was wrong and that they are upset about it. It also helps your child understand that they will make mistakes and that it is okay to make mistakes as long as they follow through with how to fix
