The book Mockingjay came from the Hunger Games Series . The entire series was written by Suzanne Collins in which she won an award for. Out of four children, Suzanne was the youngest. Suzanne was born on August 10, 1962 in Hartford Connecticut. As a child Collins moved a lot and the topic of History was very important to the family. Collins father was an air force pilot and a history teacher. He was really big on history and telling stories of his experience in the air force. “So throughout our lives we basically heard about war.” said Collins. From that quote we can see where the influence for her trilogy The Hunger Games came from. Collins graduated high school from Alabama school of fine Arts in 1980 and afterwards ended up going to Indiana University and New York University. Later we see that she struggle with another harsh decision: who she wants to spend the rest of her life. Is it going to her her best friend Gale or partner in the Hunger Games Peeta. Katniss along with her sister, her mother, and her best friend Gale, joins district thirteen. After she participated in the Hunger Games, she later founds that the Capitol is holding Peeta hostage and torturing him in ways that are incapable of noticing if you don't know what Snow is capable of. She soon realize, thanks to Primrose, that she is the voice of the rebels and that she must stand up to the cruelty and injustice of the Capitol. After choosing to be the face of the mockingjay, Katniss along with her group:Peeta, Gale, Finnick, Effie, Haymitch, and the camera crew, faces mortal traps and treacherous enemies.
