Mockingjay is the third film installment of The Hunger Games film series. The Hunger Games film series is based on The Hunger Games book trilogy written by Suzanne Collins. The film producers decided to split Mockingjay into two parts. The first part of the movie was released last November and the second part is scheduled to be released on November 2015 (1). In this paper, the author will discuss how music contributed to the overall quality and effect of the movie.
The film starts by showing Katniss Everdeen in District 13. She is with the other victors who were rescued from the 75th Hunger Games arena. District 13 is depicted as an underground city where people live in a kind of communist government. All residents of District 13are required to wear a uniform and have limited possessions. Katniss reunites with her mother, sister and Gale. Not long after, Katniss meets the president of District 13, President Alma Coin. President Coin tells her that her actions during the last Hunger Games inspired people to rise up against the Capitol. Protests and strikes were being conducted in the different Districts. When they came out to check the damage caused by the bombing, they saw white rose petals. Katniss panicked upon seeing the white rose petals because it was a message from President Snow that he was going to kill Peeta.
