The body and closing of an interview is important because when counselors are working with the client, they work to gain information on the reason why the client has come to counseling as well as their theoretical mind (Sommers-Flanagan & Sommers-Flanagan, 2016). The process of the interview starts when the counselor develops a therapeutic relationship with the client. This assignment will look at documentation and outline the process of the mock interview along with administer a self-evaluation of the interviewer interviewing skills as well as the approach where the interviewee can talk freely or non-directive approach was applied during the body and the closing phase of the interview. In this mock interview, the interviewer will be deciding on the level of anxiety of the client and observation to the criteria of anxiety.…
This counselor met with Desiree in the office today to review the reports provided by the 3 interviewers that did mock interviews with her on 9/20. Before reviewing the reports, Desiree wanted this counselor to know that she is still doing wonderful on her medications and stated " I feel like myself." She also wanted this counselor to know that she has been clean for awhile now and is confident she can pass a drug test. She said that she is more clear headed and plans to stay clean. This counselor was happy to hear that she is taking the initiative to improve herself.…
I am a non-practicing religious, more spiritual, person. I decided for my service learning project to interview someone who is practicing from the same religious background that I came from. Even though I grew up taught religion by my Catholic mother, I was never truly practicing. Even with this I found many similarities to a practicing Christian. I chose to interview because I was curious about how my non-practicing views meshed with someone from the same religion who is much more read in it.…
Life is it a blessing or is it a curse? This has always been an endless question in my opinion that’s often frequently asked. “A Life-or-Death Situation” corresponds with “Choosing to Die After a Struggle with Life”, both articles are written by Robin Marantz Henig. They are focusing on a married couple and a husband who is a quadriplegic. Peggy Battin and husband Brooke Hopkins has had a turmoil of pitfalls.…
Then went in for the interview and was confident that i did well as well, and now all that was left was to give my speech. I practiced that speech for weeks before the day of the District Convention finally came. I surprisingly kept more or less calm the whole time until it was actually time for me to get on stage and persuade these people, in which I had never met before, to vote for me. But this too was a success…
Diversity Interview I completed this interview with an old friend, Darian, she is African American and her prefered sexual orientation is female. I have never really given much thought on how different we are, and still believe we are more alike than different. But we do have some rather large things that distinguish the two of us from each other. The major ‘skin deep’ things being she has a girlfriend and is African American.…
and I ended up being the very first person to give my speech. I sucked it up and did my best but I wish that I could have relaxed more, I seemed a little stiff and…
Despite my discomfort, I think I did a good job maintaining an open posture throughout the interview. A major personal discovery I made was that I tend to be expressive in my face. I noticed that I was doing pressing my lips together and at some points my eyes widened. This was namely due to the uncomfortable areas of the interview such as Betty beginning to sing and the moments when she was highly upset. During those points of the interview, I felt as if I kind of lost some control over the flow of the interview.…
As I walked into the small building, that in fact looked very enormous at the time, I began to anticipate every answer I would give to the person who interviewed me, so that to them, I would at least seem prepared. Although I had practiced my interviewing skills that very morning, I felt anxious and worried. Not knowing what to expect, many different scenarios ran through my mind, all of which weren't making my situation any better. Questions after questions were asked, all which seemed impossible for me to answer, and I felt as though I blew the whole thing. After the interview, many days passed by, and I had convinced myself that I did not get job.…
Leadership Interview I recently had the opportunity of interviewing Mr. Maity who has more than ten years of experience in leadership positions within his organization. He started his career after grad school with a small non-profit research organization. His leadership abilities were quickly realized and he became a part of a large company as a Project Manager. He recalls that in his first job, the small size of the company and the nature of operations meant that soon after joining the firm, he started taking up multiple responsibilities with many being outside of his core functional role. This valuable learning experience has allowed him to excel in his current leadership position.…
The interviewees during the mock interview could not overcome because they had tough disadvantages in their way. The disadvantages were being unprepared, not properly dressed, not sure of their answers, and body language. When you are interviewing for any job, you should treat it as your dream job. That means come prepared, come properly dressed, be confident in your responses, and have proper body language. Come prepared is that you are 100% ready for anything in the interview.…
I communicated effectively with the interviewee. I think having pre-selected questions was helpful with helping the conversation flow naturally. I also applied motivational interviewing techniques during the interview. For instance, I maintain good posture and open body language. I did a job of summarizing at the end of the interview as well.…
Mock Interview Reflection The mock interview was closely related to the topics covered in the readings and in class. Getting practice using the techniques we have been learning in real time, with a real person, made the content more concrete. I was conscious of employing solution focused techniques as much as possible in the short time we had to conduct the interview. While my performance produced mixed results, the practice was a good start to becoming an expert using the technique. Strengths and Effectiveness When reflecting on my performance, I was able to express to the client I was fully engaged in our conversation by intentionally implementing a variety of reflection strategies.…
When interviewing for a job opportunity, many individuals experience anxiety and stress during the process. From personal experience, I can admit that I do not retain the greatest interview skills - I shake uncontrollably, I demonstrate high anxiety levels, and I find it challenging to think on the spot. For me, the questions, themselves, do not represent the stressor, but rather, the stress comes from knowing that the individual in front of me retains the ability to control my future career. Interviews exemplify an all-or-nothing situation - you either get the job or you do not. This past week, I participated in a mock interview role-play in class, which permitted me to evaluate and test my interview skills with peers.…
