I just received a complaint on McMinnville, Examiner Michael Holland. On Tuesday Austin Williams had a skills test and when they got in the car, Examiner Holland pulled the seatbelt strap over his shoulder but did not fasten. The applicant thought he was trying to “trick” him and ask that he put his seatbelt on as he has been instructed by his parents that all passengers was to wear their safety restraint. Examiner Holland told the applicant that he could Fail him for not following directions. Once the skills test was completed, Examiner Holland spoke with the mother and advised her that if he wanted he could fail him for not following directions and she said “this could all have been avoided if you would have fastened your seat belt”.…
I am a non-practicing religious, more spiritual, person. I decided for my service learning project to interview someone who is practicing from the same religious background that I came from. Even though I grew up taught religion by my Catholic mother, I was never truly practicing. Even with this I found many similarities to a practicing Christian. I chose to interview because I was curious about how my non-practicing views meshed with someone from the same religion who is much more read in it.…

Numerous counseling skills are discussed in the textbook, such as intentional and diagnostic interviewing skills, attending skills, observing and reflecting skills, listening skills, confronting skills, and influencing skills. Mock Interview Reflection The mock interview was closely related to the topics covered in the readings and in class. Getting practice using the techniques we have been learning in real time, with a real person, made the content more concrete. I was conscious of employing solution focused techniques as much as possible in the short time we had to conduct the interview. While my performance produced mixed results, the practice was a good start to becoming an expert using the technique. Strengths and Effectiveness When reflecting on my performance, I was able to express to the client I was fully engaged in our conversation by intentionally implementing a variety of reflection strategies.…
Upon arrival to Dr. Ahmed Kamel’s office, I look around the familiar little room, recognizing some of the textbooks as ones that I have used in past semesters. There are also binders for each of his classes on the shelves that line the wall and jars of proppant samples on the desk. I pull out my notebook and pencil and turn on my recorder as he jokingly tells me that he is setting his timer and will charge me for his time at the end of the interview. Dr. Kamel attended Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt where he earned his bachelors and masters degrees in Petroleum Engineering. He then began his career in the petroleum industry in Egypt, where he worked as a drilling engineer.…
