Using a Mobile POS for Efficient, Stress-Free Inventory Management

Summary: Mobile POS systems are an integral part to any business that wishes to generate profit, operate efficiently and provide their customers with excellent customer service. A primary issue that mobile POS systems solve is the streamlining of inventory checks and related procedures. Here, we will analyze common issues with inventory checks and how a mobile POS system eliminates these issues.

Due to an inaccurate inventory check performed a month ago, a discrepancy in a low-supply/high-demand item was properly identified and rectified. When it has come time for a customer to purchase the item after searching several stores for it, it is eagerly sold with the confidence that the stock count is accurate.

In the process of taking time to locate the item the customer may grow impatient, affecting their opinion of your business adversely. When you notify the customer the item is not in stock, the disappointment may cost you any further business with them, and whoever they share this information with.

Repetition Of Issues – Stock discrepancies can often leave you victim to the “snowball effect” where one problem just gets larger as time goes on. If there are several of these issues going undetected and unresolved, they will simply add more time to your next inventory check and will become even more of a time-waster which each subsequent non-detection in future inventory checks. Increased Customer Trust/Satisfaction

A mobile POS system will eliminate the tiring process of having to refer back to a stationary terminal to continually update inventory counts as they are tallied by hand or eye, then written down and logged for referral. An employee can use a mobile POS terminal with inventory reports to check the stock, then make any necessary changes right on the terminal, streamlining the process.

This also eliminates fatigue, which can raise the likelihood of human error. Cutting down on human error is essential when doing inventory checks, primarily since items and services can be purchased online or over the phone before being fulfilled in-store.

When your inventory is free of discrepancies and eliminates the customer issues that can stem from them, this will be evidenced in that customers can trust the store to have their item in stock and ready for sale as soon as they enter the door. This typically drives repeat business, as well as recommendations to other potential customers which contributes positively to your bottom
