A research is any systematic activity designed to add knowledge through theories, principles and statements (Riva et al, 2012). Jacobson (2014) also defines research as a process of investigating a subject for the purpose of informing the world, a nation or a community about the findings of the subject, for the benefit of the population.
Topic
Health problems which might emerge from the use of mobile phones and the environmental impact.
My research statement is: Some researchers have asserted that mobile phone users’ are exposed to radiation which affects the human system and food chain. In the case of this research the problem is an over usage of mobile phones and how the radiation from the phone (electro-magnetic wave) affects …show more content…
Who is affected?
How do affected people behave?
What do they know about the problem, their beliefs and its causes?
These questions will handle both the quantitative data which will present a general picture of the research problem and the qualitative data which will explain and explore participants’ views.
It is very important in public health to identify a health problem and tackle it from its roots before it becomes a situation which starts posing a lot of challenges to public health and eventually becomes a pandemic
Objective
Due to the lack of awareness about the health risks while using mobile phones and unable to understanding the problems relating to the environment with the use of mobile phones, the objective of the research is to identify the health risks and the environmental problems.
Context and Rationale
Mobile phones have existed for a long time in the western world but in Sub-Sahara Africa, it is new. In Cameroon in particular mobile phones came into existence in about the year 2000. But today it is very rampant in the country. According to the World Bank report, 2016 it states that in 2014, 17,270,312 people owned a mobile phone giving it 75.7% in a population of about 23million …show more content…
Most people especially the youths are the main targets. My research will be population based, using humans as the subjects. The research is also valuable because it will promote health and prevent disease while seeking possible solutions (Jacobson, 2014). Experts hold that there is radiation which comes from the use of these mobile phones. The radiation Electro-magnetic wave is a risk factor to some disease which some research have pointed out already. The research will seek to find out the hazardous effects of radio-frequency (EMW) emitted on using mobile phones in the ears, how the screen affects the eyes, if there other internal health problems that the electromagnetic waves has caused. The research will also seek to know if the disposal of cell phone has any environmental effects in the air and soil.
According to a scientific Journal the write up by Deepinder et al (2007), states the release of the electro magnetics wave from the phones is of increasing concern because of the kind of disease it might cause on health. The health effect might be of different categories and diseases. The authors of the journal examined ‘the effect to the fertility of men. Other studies show that EMW can affect the reproductive system via an EMW-specific effect, thermal molecular effect or combination of both’ (Deepinder et al,
