During the 1600s Salem, Massachusetts was big on religion and on people practicing witchcraft.Also, it pertained to Mob Mentality, when they group of girls would accuse someone of witchcraft and they would hang them. The play The Crucible, written by Arthur Miller takes place in Salem, Massachusetts late 1600s. This book is about the prejudiceness of the Salem witch trials and the severe behavior that results from dark desires and hidden motives. John Proctor can be described as a stern, harsh-toned man to hypocercy. John proctor is a man of integrity because he was willing to die for the truth and he confessed to adultery. In Act two John admitted to his wife Elizabeth that he broke a commandment, which was adultery. ¨ I have known her sir, I have known her¨(Miller 115). This was when John was in the court trying to prove that his friends and wife are innocent.
