According to Hamric, Hanson, Tracy, and Grady (2014), in 2004 there was a conference held for the purpose “to develop a process for achieving consensus regarding the credentialing of APNs” (p. 34). The APRN Regulatory Model is important because according to Hamric et al. (2014) it “includes important definitions, the roles and titles to be used, and population foci” (p. 34). According to the American Nurses Credentialing Center (n.d.), now that the consensus model is developed, it will allow the advanced practice nurse “to align the interrelationships among licensure, accreditation, certification, and education.” …show more content…
These four roles are given the title of advanced practice registered nurse (APRN).” This provides a clear path calling for all APRNs to be educated in an accredited graduate level education program within one of the four roles (American Association of Critical Care Nurses, n.d.).
