To understand the mission of the Ivy Tech Department of Public Safety, one must know the differences between Ivy Tech’s security officers, and local law enforcement. While law enforcement has the legal power to enforce the law around the campus, as a security officer, while also trying to enforce the law as well, they lack the legal power that law enforcement poses. For the most part, a security guards main mission is to discourage criminal activity within then legal means, and observe and report activities around the campus. When something happens whether it be a possible criminal act, suspicious activity, medical emergency, or just a maintenance issue they notice around the college, they then report the situation to the Command Center.…

Without knowing my ethnicity, you'd be certain that I was a white male if you heard the way I spoke. Being raised in a mostly white neighborhood has caused me to speak in a very articulate fashion and behave in the same manner as the others around me. In pursuit of a better education, I started my first year at Michigan Math and Science Academy in the 7th grade. Unlike the other public schools I’ve attended before 7th grade, the student body at MMSA is predominately black. After being in mainly white schools for all of my life, my first year at MMSA took some adjusting to.…

Honestly, I am an undergrad student at MCPHS-Boston, and to tell you the truth, unless you are naturally intelligent, and/or willing to make big sacrifices and go through hard struggles, this college is not for you. I am not telling you this because I am not a hard working, unmotivated, or lazy student, who is angry at the school for receiving bad grades. It is more because I have experienced this school and have found out many things that would have made me not come here in the first place had I known before. The main thing that comes to mind here is that this school is ALL ABOUT YOUR MONEY. Which is why they have such a high acceptance rate.…

Recommendations To combat the transportation issues I have several recommendations. Since safety appears to be a major issue around the end of the school or work day, I would recommend several changes associated with developing routes in which a community member could use to return home or to school. This would be particular tailored for the students in elementary school and at NCCU; since these students were the ones appeared to live closet to the schools, but used the most mobile or public transportation. I would recommend that these particular routes be designated only for those walking home and categorize them for NCCU students and elementary schools; making sure to note the necessity to separate the age groups. I would also recommend…
