5. If this is a program that was implemented before, please tell us a success story so we can understand the impact of the program. We previously helped a client by stabilizing her housing and financial status by developing a spending plan to gradually pay down personal loans that she had taken out prior to entering into MMP. We also worked with the mortgage modification program to ensure that housing was affordable for the client’s budget so that there would be no barriers in meeting the client’s basic needs of shelter and utilities.

7. What is your long-term goal for this program’s sustainability? To have ongoing supportive money management service that assists older adults to remain safely in their own homes in the community. Assist the participant to reduce debt where possible. Participant’s financial status is stabilized. Volunteers will be satisfied with their volunteer experience and be prepared and comfortable with required MMP activities.

8. Does funding from UWKIC allow you to leverage other funds/matching funds? United Way dollars do help leverage other funds. Funding received through the United Way is used to fill gaps in funding. Program funding is provided via Illinois Department on Aging in a fee-for-service model does not provide adequate support for administrative costs such as staff mileage and supervisory salaries or modest recognition for volunteers. This program supports a full-time benefited staff person, and is expected to serve 75 clients this fiscal year. Currently 14 volunteers are active in the program giving back to the
