From MLK’s speech, one could say there was a strict message of equality. He wished for equality for all colored people across America. This was displayed through his use of ethos, pathos, and logos throughout his speech. Despite the faults in the character of his personal life, many took the use of these literary tools as promises and hope for a better future set about by the language King chose. He states “There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until all of color are set equal.”…

intelligent words to gain attention of listeners. “... and force everybody to see that there are thirteen hundred of God's children here suffering.” The amount imagery this quote gives to listeners is incredibly amazing. MLK uses God in I’ve Been to the Mountaintop to show that everyone was God’s child, regardless of their race. This shows imagery because MLK is talking about how so many people are not literally suffering, but instead hurting from the words of the whites.…

In an appearance Thursday on CNN's "New Day" to discuss health care and President Trump, controversy arose when I said this: "When I was a kid, President Kennedy did not want to introduce the civil rights bill because he said it wasn't popular, he didn't have the votes for it, et cetera. Dr. King kept putting people in the streets in harm's way to put the pressure on so that the bill would be introduced. That's what finally worked." I was doing the appearance via Skype, which doesn't allow me to see the faces of those I am speaking with. But suffice to say, both host Alisyn Camerota and fellow guest Symone Sanders were astonished.…

In the Speech At The March On Washington, conducted by John Lewis, a prominent figure in the Civil Rights Movement, John Lewis advocates for the civil rights and treatment of African Americans. Lewis’ purpose is to argue that the Civil Rights bill must include Title III to prevent the mistreatment of African Americans from police. He adopts a reprimanding tone in order to compel listeners to join the march and Congress to add Title III to the bill. John Lewis uses aposiopesis, rhetorical questions, anaphora, and repetition to convey his message in his speech in Washington.…

In Dr. Martin Luther King’s letter and speech, there is both emotional and logical text. The one that is more emotional would be his speech. His letter would be more logical then. The reason why the letter is more logical or logos is because it has facts and data but also it uses testimony. He used more logical language in his letter because he was trying to get this point across to certain people, he wanted to use truthful information to back up everything he said.…
