Product Differentiation is an advertising technique that organizations use to recognize an item from comparative offerings available. It can be also be explained as the process of distinguishing a product from others to make it more demanding in the market. For smaller organizations, product differentiation methodology may give an upper hand in a business sector overwhelmed by bigger organizations. The differentiation system the business utilizes must focus on a fragment of the business sector and convey the message that the item is decidedly unique in relation to all other comparable items accessible.

The group of products in the product line have same brand logo, color scheme so it can be easily be identified by customers. Product lines help in determining the best product strategy. The product line should always be bigger to attract the customers. Product mix can also contain individual products that are not in the product line. If same company holds two different line of products, they both constitute product mix. Companies should be careful in dividing the products into product lines and further divide them into groups. The product packaging is the one that attracts customers to look on to the product. Many companies spend a lot of money and time to determine the packaging cover and color schemas, designs to attract the customers. It may also contain the nutritional information about the product. It can also differentiate the products and play a major role in purchasing decision. If the package of the company changes, it changes the perception of the company.
