Mitty Personal Statement

My goal is to join Archbishop Mitty High School for the reason that it teaches me more knowledge and the school's curriculum is designed to prepare me for college. As proven over the Archbishop Mitty website, 100% of the graduates went to a college every year. There has been many graduates over the past years that have become very successful in the career that they chose especially the students that chose to compete professionally in sports. Mitty has over 50 clubs and over half of the clubs seem very appealing to me, especially the Computer Science club. Mitty's performing arts department is well-known for the way the teachers train their students, peculiarly the dance and drama programs. Mitty, however, is most famous for its sports. Many

To Play or Not To Play???“Put Me in Coach” When people reminisce about their high school years, fond memories of being at the height of fitness, spending countless hours with teammates, and playing in the “Big Game” are often treasured. However, some students at St. Anthony High School are choosing not to be involved in the athletic program for social and academic reasons. As a result, many are missing out on one of the most important aspects of their high school career. Although some believe that participation in high school athletics is a roadblock towards academic success and a satisfying social life, students should play at least one sport throughout high school because they will develop critical life skills and increase their physical…

There is a great debate between attending the University of Iowa and Iowa State University among students. My interest towards attending Mercer University’s Physician Assistant is largely due to the emphasis the University puts on service to humankind through service learning and integrating volunteering. Being a founding institution that ingrains service to humanity entirely into its culture and academics, there is no doubt that Mercer would provide me with an exceptional opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills of a Physician Assistant providing whole person care to members of the community. Having worked as an Emergency Medical Technician in an underserved community, Kewaunee, Wisconsin, for some time now, I thoroughly understand how important providing effective care to those in need really is. During my experience I witnessed the appalling living conditions that many patients were surrounded by and how difficult accessing healthcare service was for them, thus enforcing medical illnesses to be even more likely to occur among them. I have personally observed how appreciative and grateful many of the patients and the families of the patients were when…

Attending Buena Vista University it seems as if everyone plays a sport, the small campus and even smaller student body creates an environment that puts an emphasis on athletics. In my three years attending Buena Vista, I have had two different roommates, both athletes themselves. Living with athletes creates challenges and opportunities that are special to athletes. For a washed up high school athlete getting the chance to live vicariously through some of my best friends at the collegiate level is an experience like non-other. One of the biggest concerns when first heading off to college is will you be able to make friends.…

Comparing my normal high school (Northwest) to my school of choice (Roanoke Valley Early College). It’s so hard to believe that if I wouldn’t have gotten accepted to RVEC I would’ve been continuing at Northwest Halifax.…

I am very grateful for those who have influenced me over my high school years whether it be my teachers, advisors, parents, or friends. Although all have had a great impact on my life at some point, I have to say the person who had the biggest significance on my life was easily my 8th grade teacher, National Honor Society Advisor, and mentor: Mrs. Mindi Phelps. Having first met her as my 8th grade English teacher, I did not know how much this woman would mean to me now, as a senior in high school. She believed in me and pushed me out of my comfort zone, was there for all my successes, as well as my failures, and still is to this day even though she moved to Florida at the end of my junior year. I first met Mrs. Phelps at the beginning of my 8th grade year as my English teacher.…
