“Hurry up Walter, you are always staring off into space!” “You're always trying to rush me, just take your time and relax honey.” Mitty replied as he watched his last cigarette go up into smoke as the rain kept pouring. “We have to hurry and get home, we need to pack for the trip to Machu Picchu remember?” said Mrs. Mitty. Beforehand, the Mitty's lived a very quiet and normal life in the calm atmosphere of Waterbury, Connecticut. Walter has always had a tendency to “daze-off” during the day, but he never considered it as “dazing off”. He actually saw it as dreaming but with his eyes open.
As they made their way back home, Walter remembered about his last daydream, which was about a clever escape. Mrs. Mitty commented, “Ok Walter we should get some rest. I can’t wait for tomorrow! How do you think the mountains will be, stunning?”. Walter was pleased to see his wife’s excitement, because he never enjoyed his dull life, he wished to have something more ‘abnormal’.
The sun rises as morning begins, and Mr.Mitty is filled with determination to explore the world. “Rise and shine Marcela, we can’t be late for our plane!” Walter says waking up his wife.
