One of Hollywood’s biggest Christian movie producers is Mitch Davis, and he as a film coming out soon called The Stray. Davis’s film comes from experiences in his own life, and he is using his platform to tell his story. While he was on a hike, Davis ended up being struck by lightning. The stray dog that his kids took in and nursed back to health ends up getting his family help. This inspired him to produce a movie about this experience and what he learned from it as a Christian. The film is about his real life experiences in which a dog helps save a family that is struggling in every way possible. In the movie, two parents are troubled by finances, being young parents, and high stress from their jobs. When they bring in this stray, they remember what it is like to have a simple, loving relationship with something where was no stress, arguments, or crying. There was only a strong bond with a human and its dog. While Mitch was on a hike with three of his sons, he was struck by lightning. He believes that the only reason he lived through that was because the dog was with them and get help. In the movie, the father ends up losing his faith because his other priorities end up rising over God. They are known to be selfless and loyal companions and many believe that “all dogs go to heaven”. Many people believe that dogs are a blessing from God, and that one reason why Mitch wanted to make this movie. He sees a direct correlation between God’s relationship with people and dogs’ relationships with people. The director sees dogs as a way for God to teach others on how to love and support unconditionally. He wants other people to see how God loves you the way a dog does, which will also help people open their eyes to their relationship with God.
