just 20 years ago, the world still seemed interested in meeting people in person and kids having fun
playing jump rope outside. Though technology has greatly been productive in certain aspects, the
underlying matter is the misuse of it. Today, issues arise with technology that leads to distractions with
driving, social media and overall just missing out on the important things in life. While it is an
enhancement to our global connections, sometimes a person needs to know when to plug off from
technology and when to plug in to reality.

Technology has
provided great ways to communicate with one another but it does not mean that one should put
themselves in danger, it is better to miss the text message than to miss the exit.
Another downfall technology produces is social media. Not only is there the popular Facebook, but
there are dating sites, web chats and other services that will draw the eyes of the people into their
screen for hours. Social media has become many people 's second life, meaning that if they do not like
their life in reality, they will make up a life in the fantasy. Social media serves as a place where people
can exchange multiple amounts of information about themselves without even knowing who is out
there retrieving the information. All a person cares about is how many “likes” they received on a photo
or where the current drama is happening. Places like the park are not even used for relaxation

At a kid 's baseball game, that kid is
expecting his or her parents to be in the stands with their whole attention on them, think about how
discouraging it will be for the child to see their parent on their phone or caught up in a conference call.
Once the parent will get off the phone and come back to the stands, they will see that they missed their
child hit a home run and would not be able to get that moment back to relive.
Technology is not the root of the problem but it is how people misuse it. Technology does serve it 's
purpose in fields such as medicine that has benefited in people 's health but it can also serve as
distractions if a person allows is to be. An individual must know when to put the phone down
and not pick it up every time they hear a beep or buzz, just how Dance, Jeffery W, Service, Robert W
(2013) says in his article “nothing takes away from our time and attention like jumping from one
medium to another to see what that "ding" was about - text, e-mail, or some other stimuli.” A person
must be aware of not getting too attracted by
