There are many science fiction texts that have been written on the beneficial usage of technological innovations in the past, present and future. The author, Ray Bradbury has written on various themes throughout many of his science fiction texts. One particular theme the misusage of technological innovations were commonly present in some of his science fiction texts. The theme was demonstrated through time travelling using a time machine to visit the past that drastically contributed in altering the future generations. In the story Bradbury tries to convey his idea that if such technologies evolve in the future humans will take the advantage of its usage for their benefits and may become successful at altering the future. If this occurs they will indeed face dreadful consequences. An example of theme from the story include Eckels’ wanting to visit a past generation to satisfy his desire to hunt a Tyrannosaurus rex and in the process accidentally stepping on a butterfly that had a massive impact in the world. Eckels’ carelessness was enough to alter the whole evolution. In the “A Sound of Thunder” the actions in the past influenced the present and future and in “The Veldt” the family members became the victim of technology. In comparison to both stories the theme was explored in different ways. In “A Sound of Thunder” Bradbury uses the ripple effects to illustrate the idea of interconnectivity between one thing to another.The theme was presented through exploring the connections between past, present and the future and how technology can be successful in altering evolution. In “The Veldt” Bradbury explains the significance of interactions between people and how technology can become a reason for its decline.
