Love is the first aspect of the fruit of God’s Spirit, Galatians 5:22-23 says “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things, there is no law.” (NIV). Love is the greatest of the fruit of the spirit, which is necessary for the other fruits, because “Love is the bond of perfection, binding everything together in perfect unity (Colossians 3:14, NIV).” All the other fruits are issued by love and any of them can be exercised without it. When we receive the God’s spirit, we are receiving his love. As Romans 5:5 says “God has poured out His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.” (NIV). Furthermore, love is also the act of obedience to God, as 2 John 1:6 says “And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands.
