Introduction:
This assignment will summarise about the article ‘If kids don’t feel safe they don’t do anything’: young people’s views on seeking and receiving help from Children’s Social Care Services in England. (Child and Family Social Work-Jobe, A. and Gorin, S. (2013) ). This assignment will discuss about: why the research was undertaken, what research methods were used, and lastly, what the main findings were.
The main purpose of the article is to explore young people’s experiences of seeing for help whenever they face mistreatment, how young people manage to disclose themselves to others, how young individuals manage to engage with services, and lastly to see how their needs and expectations are met.

The main reason why the research was undertaken was to see different views from young people on seeking and receiving help from Children’s Social Care services in England. When seeking help, young people were confused about whom they should disclose and confide in to. Most likely older young people would go to peers for moral support and guidance, but on the other hand, children would go to parents (if not abuser) and professionals (mainly teachers). This benefits young individuals as they have someone for support and guidance, and someone who could take their options and thoughts in to consideration (in other terms, they are happy as they have an individuals whom will listen to their rants, ideas, and opinion).This could also affect them in a negative way as well, for example young individuals may have to keep repeating themselves of their past to different professionals (e.g.: to social workers) so this could affect their mental state, in addition to, lack of contact along with communication. Moving forwards, when it came to receiving help; this had been a tough process to go through for young individuals due to on-and-off relationships-mainly with professional social workers. Therefore, this affected young people in many ways as they had difficulties in contacting their social workers, so this overall caused frustration and stress. However, some individuals did receive decent support from family, relatives, friends, and professionals (including social workers and teachers) making them feel confident and
