Chapter One: Mistakes Were Made

Morgen~
Day one of my humiliating 9th grade year of River’s Glow middle-highschool, one that supposedly protects inhumans from those ‘Nasty Humans’. I tell myself it’s all fine and well, but it isn’t and it never will be. I am a ‘mutt’ as Kellen and his stupid friends like to call me, as well as a ton of other people. All because I had a Human dad and a Inhuman mom, whoʻve burdened me with half-breed blood.
I have friends, but they’re either busy getting everything done, or haven’t found me yet. I used to be the teen who had kept everything to themselves. Now whenever i’m sad, take one look at me and you can tell right away. Emotions all mixed and jumbled up, I decided that I would take a walk.

Like, what part of your body if you didn't have it would you count as a cyborg?”
It was probably the most interesting talk I’ve ever had. We laughed the entire time back to the dorms. As we headed into our rooms I asked him, “What time do you usually get up?”
He responded with “Uh, usually 5:30 or 6:00.”
I turned around and jumped into my bed. I set my alarm for 5:00, plugged my phone in and went to sleep. My alarm went off and luckily my ear buds were in. I woke up and grabbed my white tank top with my leather black jacket along with my short shorts. I went into the restroom and put my hair in a ponytail and curled the ends and put my clothes on. I came out and saw Jeffrey in the walkway we both just paused for a moment.
I said “Hey, your up pretty early”
He replied, “I’m not, it’s already 6:30” as he held up his phone.
I moved out of the way and sat on my bed while waiting for him to finish getting ready. By the time it was 7:00, we both headed out. I asked him, “Do you even know where to go?”
He replied, “Naw, I’m just gonna walk around and look for someone around our age.”
I said, “Same, maybe we can get breakfast, and this time, you

The semester before my freshman year I applied to an early college high school; I knew that I was going to have more work than if I had went to the traditional high school, but I knew I could do it. At first I was doing well, but as time went on the work became more challenging and frequent eventually my grades fell and took my pride with it. I wanted to transfer to the traditional high school in my neighborhood, but changed my mind after a talk with one of my professors. She helped me to recognize that if I quit not only would I be throwing away the work that I did do, but I’d also be preventing myself from seeing what work I could do. I took that seed of information and turned it into a tree of motivation.…

I kneeled down on the roof of an abandoned apartment, watching my next prey. I aimed the SR25 American sniper at the person’s head, click goes the sound of the trigger, before I could look up I saw my victim's body lying limp on fresh concrete with at a puddle of blood surrounding them and one perfect bullet hole through their head. Bystanders immediately pulled out their phones forming a circle around the body. I picked up the sniper, slung it around my back and walked down the steps of the building. The Atlanta sun was beating down on my black clothing my long curly hair feeling like fire, I hopped in my all black Lamborghini Gallardo Nera, driving slowly by the body to see if I finished my job, I smirked knowing I will be getting paid…

Being a high school student is composed of restless nights, and eight exhausting hours of classes in which you are obligated to stay awake in. A normal school day begins with me snoozing my alarm about ten times before my dad walks into my room telling me the dreaded “time to get up for school” reminder which I just take as a suggestion. Normally I will drag myself into the bathroom about ten minutes later to begin my routine. I spend about 40 minutes in the bathroom preparing myself for school and by the time I am done it is usually time to grab all of my things and barely catch the bus. Now this has to be my least favorite part of the day.…
