(HOOK) Choices are what initiate the result of any outcome. Effective and well thought out choices create positive outcomes. (CI) Mistakes are the unfavorable choices create negative outcomes.(GS1) To prevent mistakes, unlike Romeo, it is important to not let emotions get in the way of decisions. (GS2) Another crucial point to consider, that Mercutio did not, when making decisions is to view how the decision can affect others. Because Friar Laurence does not express the importance of the letter when giving it to the friar meant to give it to Romeo, the letter does not make it to Romeo. Because Romeo does not know of the plan, he thinks Juliet is dead and kills himself. (MINOR 2 FOR MA) If Romeo were to get the letter from Friar Laurence, everything would have gone according to plan. Romeo would have known that Juliet was alive and well. He could have gone to Verona and have been there for her awakening. (REWORDING OF MAJOR B) Friar Laurence’s other mistake is leaving Juliet right after she finds out Romeo killed himself . (MINOR 1 FOR MB) Right after Juliet awakens, Friar Laurence hears the noise of someone inside the mausoleum and runs away saying “I hear some noise.Lady, come from that nest/ Of death,contagion, and unnatural sleep:/A greater power than we can contradict/ Hath thwarted our intents…. Come, go, good Juliet, I dare no longer stay.” (5.3.579). Juliet, now alone, sees Romeo’s newly created corpse and becomes depressed knowing she would live a life without her Romeo.
