The battle emblem on the the Mississippi state flag has been flown over the state since 1894 to honor the men who fought for the Confederacy in the Civil War. The flag is used by many white supremacy groups and is still flown on government property. Should the emblem be removed or replaced from the flag?
The civil war was a fight regarding rights to own slaves. Many southern men joined the confederate army to protect their right to own slaves. The white supremacy groups flew the flag while terrorizing the opposite race and it became a symbol of hatred to the black community. Both of the flags had armies fighting under them for their right to own slaves for labor. Although they are very similar Germany banned the swastika and made it against their criminal code.
