The first day of clinical I was extremely nervous. Also the fact that English is not my first language and that I do have an accent, I was nervous about the fact that I would mispronounce something or just make some grammatical error that would make me sound not as smart. Because we did not have many patients that day, I was teamed up with a classmate and that did make me feel better, knowing that I was not going into a patient’s room by myself. At first I was not saying much, but has the morning progressed, I was becoming more confident in my abilities to communicate with my patients. Throughout this clinical experience I believe that my communication skills with the patients improved and on one of the last days of clinical, one of the patients asked me if I was almost finished with nursing school because I looked really confident. This made me really happy, because although I feel like I have so much more to learn, the confidence that I gain was
