MISSION STATEMENT “Mission statement is a description of what an organization actually does – what its business is – and why it does it.”
Often called the “credo”, “philosophy”, “core values” or “our aspirations”, organization’s mission is the statement that defines its core purpose or reason for being. It tells who a company is and what it does. According to P. It motivates employees to make extra effort and usually results in higher performance. Because money rewards only partly motivates employees, it is important to use other tools such as vision statement to increase their motivation. The statement also indicates what resources, competencies and skills will be needed to achieve the future objective. This way it guides decision-making and resource allocation more effectively.
