There are many different types of mission trips that one can attend. From mission trips that are fun to mission trips where you work, they all bring memories that one can hold dearly. One of the best parts of a mission trip are the people you meet there and the relationships you build. For the last five summers, I have participated in a mission trip called World Changers. This is a trip where young teenagers take a week off their summer to come and help others in work they are unable to do around their house. The week of World Changers has been one of the best weeks of all my summers. The memories range from working on site and having sweat drip down you in heat, to new friends you make and bond it, to seeing your homeowners happy, and growing closer to your youth group and building your faith in God. The more World Changers I attend, the more I want to continue to go and make more memories. …show more content…

It is a bonding experience, not only with your youth group, but with the crew you were placed on. You get placed on a crew with people you might not know and for five days, from the hours of 7am to 3am, you work. The work can range from working on a roof, painting, yard work, siding, etc. This is represented in the picture, showing a group of sixteen people standing in front of a house in working

I have had various experiences in the last two years, but the one I feel is the most significant is the time I spent volunteering for the Detroit Mission Trip. This opportunity presented itself in June of 2014 through my church, Metro South Church. I spent one week, Monday through Friday, each day-all day, commuting from my home in Brownstown to the inner city of Detroit. Each day of this mission trip consisted of various volunteer jobs. I was one of approximately 100 people that engaged in the process of making life better for others.…

Another huge experience that has changed my outlook on life was going to the service project for the Isaac school district. The children attending the schools at the Isaac school district are in intense poverty. I have gone during the school days to help out in the classroom, to bring Thanksgiving dinner boxes, and to deliver a Christmas gifts to the kids. The kids on these campuses have the most amazing attitudes in the worst conditions. Some of the children go home on Friday and don't have a meal until they come back to school on Monday.…

This summer I went with a few of my fellow Angels to the Archdiocese of Newark to perform community service throughout the surrounding cities of Kearny. We helped out at a soup kitchen, homeless shelter, food pantry, cemetery, and elementary schools. Overall, this service trip has had a positive effect on me. Doing service for those who have little to nothing made me appreciate all that I have; it was a real eye opener to reality that not everybody is fortunate enough to be able to live comfortably. When I was at the homeless shelter folding clothes in the basement, most of the clothes had dirt on them, and even mold and bugs.…
