Our goal is to help Kohl’s attract more millennial shoppers ages 18-24. To do this, we have developed a three pillar strategy: Reorganize, Revitalize, and Revolutionize. Each pillar is a step in making Kohl’s more competitive against other retailers who are bringing in more millennials.
Step One: Reorganize. The biggest complaint millennials have about Kohl’s is the organization of the store. Our plan to declutter the store, will display merchandise in a way that virtually sells itself. First, we will give each brand their own space within each department. The brand would be able to arrange their space in a way that appeals to their target market. Many of the retailers that are attracting millennials have employed mobile POS systems in store. This generation is particularly drawn to the use of technology. Mobile POS systems are easy to use, and inexpensive to apply. Once Kohl’s has mobile POS systems in stores, we plan on taking the technology one step further and developing a self checkout system. This has never been done in a department store before. By using self checkout, we can virtually eliminate the front end, and expedite the checkout
