Mission Statement: At The Blue Canary Police Department (BCPD) we take pride in providing our community with a department that is centered on ethical behavior, intrinsic worth, values, professionalism, advocacy and empathy, and teamwork. BCPD promises to always be prepared when responding to emergencies ensuring that every effort is made to end dangerous situations.
Core Values & Guiding Principles:
Ethical behavior-The men and woman at the BCPD pledge to do what is right without causing implications to the community
Intrinsic worth and values- At BCPD we vow to value the community and keep the values of the police department in mind not only while on duty but also during our personal lives.

The way I would do this would be to bring in every officer on the department as well as surrounding departments, and FBI, ATF, EMS, FD, and Hazmat. I would immediately try to clear the building due to a gunman still being in the room and have several officers, along with FBI proceed to the room to take down the clear the room and announce safety. During this time I would set up a command post in a nearby lot to keep people out of the crime scene and also ensure safety. Also I would send out alerts to students and staff to notify about the danger of the building and to avoid campus. Additionally I would send officers to advise any nearby people to remain in their homes. As stated above while keeping the values of the police department in mind I would keep the safety of all first. This would be done by making sure that everyone involved functions in a correct manner that would protect no only themselves but also fellow officers and the community of campus and nearby residents. An action such as this would result in no lives lost or

    In order to better prepare myself if there is an active shooter on campus is to start scanning the room or buildings I go to on a daily basis to get an idea of the best escape routes and hiding places in that building.
