Mission-Oriented Serial Killer Essay

This serial killer who is committing these crimes in a similar, limited location appear to be well thought out. I know that as a serial killer, he is going to partake in organized murders. In turn, he is not going to random locations to rape and murder his victims, instead he is carefully choosing the location where he will commit each crime. His reasoning for committing the crimes in a similar manner can be explained by categorizing him as a hedonistic and/or power-oriented serial killer. I would say that this individual might possibly be the type of serial killer who is doing it for the thrill of it and by taking advantage of his victims before he kills them, categorizes him as a power-oriented murderer. According to lecture, a power-oriented serial killer “gets satisfaction from capturing and controlling the victim before killing.” I would not put this man into one specific category though, as it appears he is also a hedonistic serial killer. There is also the possibility of him being a mission-oriented serial killer. I say this because he is attacking women and they are all around the ages of 23-30 years old. A mission-oriented serial killer seeks out a specific type of person to kill, similar to what this individual is doing. If we had more information on the victims other than their age and their gender, we could determine that information. It also appears that these women enjoy exercising to some extent if they are out jogging – although, that might not be a reason for him to attack these women simply because they are trying to get in better shape. It might be that it is also thrilling to have to chase someone, a cat and the mouse type situation. So, does this male have an issue with their religious beliefs? Their occupation?
