Mission Beach: A Short Story

Decent Essays
Johnny was very new to San Diego, so he had to jump on a trolley and ask people how to get to the best and nearest beach around. Eventually, a local surfer told him about Mission Beach. The surfer explained that Mission Beach had the sand, water, recreation, and even all the female eye candy he could wish to lay his eyes upon. Johnny told the local surfer, “I have a mind to just go there then!” After thanking the local surfer, he set out on his journey for the day to Mission Beach.

Driving through Long Beach a week ago Friday, I was honored to be chauffeuring an Italian that just couldn't get enough of the jacarandas -- he said they looked like fairy trees and kept asking what they were called. Recently, the early morning birds singings have awaken me from hazy beach dreams, feeling as if the beach has been using a luring force. Although, the beach is not 8 minutes away anymore, but 8 hours away, the fulfilling wonderful memories as a child remain as if they were created yesterday.
