I work at a cable company and there are two types of salespeople. They are direct sales and business sales. Direct sales targets residential accounts and business sales focuses on commercial accounts. The salespeople work directly off of commissions and they have assigned areas; therefore, one cannot infringe on another’s assigned area. Much of the sales training involves different packages that can be offered or sold to customers and not techniques which can improve sales. In direct sales, there is a high turnover rate and business sales do not have a high turnover rate. Much of the training gives the salespeople power to become successful. The five steps are learning to like people, a friendly smile, being generous, listening, and talking. These steps are critical for a successful salesman. The novelist speaks about seven ways to become more persuasive. The seven steps to become more persuasive are learning to agree, do not argue, do not be afraid to say you are wrong, understanding other’s viewpoint, showmanship, ask questions, and be confident. The public can deem privatizing as quick fix and it can raise legal questions about the use of deadly force. Many people question if privatizing is better for inmates and if these facilities are putting money a head of public interest. Contracting does create jobs, but the pay is lower and benefits are reduced. This will create a high turnover rate and possibly loose skilled and experienced employees. With the turnover rater being high, it affects people’s tenure. Subcontracting by original contractor to a less qualified firm is possible.
