Introduction
“Ageing is a triumph of development”. This interview was done to explore the life of sixty- seven years old Miss Viola Balfour, who has life changing experiences from childhood. She reflected on her life as a child with very few luxuries and she relate the events of her life, the factors that influence her life and how the experience of ageing impacted her life.
What are some of the events in your childhood that is lasting in your memory?
Miss Viola better known as Miss V described a life style for removed from the way we live today. She said “In them time most people relied on agriculture to see about their family” they would plant yam and cassava in the garden to supplement their diet and life was simple. During her childhood she remember her parent going to the garden on mornings, to collect milk from the cows they had to make breakfast for them to go to school.

Mothers and fathers both have jobs and tend to be not at home for the children after school, therefore causing more independence among each member of the family. Children have more independence to make mistakes without being warned about them. Eating dinner together as a family was a major tradition that has been forgotten, as families get taken up with their jobs or the different electronic gadgets.
