It always comes as a surprise to me when people comment on how there’s nothing to see as you drive through Saskatchewan. I can understand how different the scenery must be in contrast to mountainous backdrops or tropical landscapes, however I have always found the prairies to be uniquely beautiful, and I cannot grasp how others do not see that beauty as well. As I drive through southwest Saskatchewan, the world around me is full of magnificence. Despite popular belief, Saskatchewan is not a flat expanse of nothingness, rather it is a panorama of matchless flora and fauna. Whereas there are areas that are admittedly incredibly flat, the terrain varies as it melts into river hills, and there is a mix of farmland and native prairie grasses that serve to house countless wildlife and insects.…

Many people wish to travel the around the world and meet new places. I would say that the destination you are going to is important, but who you are going with on the trip is crucial. Some people make excellent traveling companions, while others not so much. Two characters that would make great traveling companions would be Montresor from “The Cask of Amontillado” by Edgar Allan Poe and Arnold Friend from “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been” by Carol Joyce Oates. They would travel to Las Vegas where they would take advantage of vulnerable people.…

In Maus women are not depicted as being capable as men, this occurs in Vladek’s relationships where the women are dependent on Vladek. The main female characters also have less depth compared to the main male characters, and can be more easily reduced down to “wife” or “mother”. In this book we get to see through the perspective of Art and his father, but never a female character. The female characters’ main purpose is to offer insight into the perception of a male character or a situation. This occurs with Françoise, we do not see much of her in the story, but when we do she is used to tell the reader how Art feels about his relationship with his father.…
