In today’s society, many people learn more from the media and technology than any other source. The media provides us with the message, and media is also considered the messenger because of the way it feeds the public information. Over 1 billion people in the world use the internet and the media can send out messages through this. The 2011 American documentary, Miss representation, is a film based on how women are portrayed by the public, and it is not a positive one. The film discusses how the media puts these images in people’s mind about how we as women are suppose to look and act. The film discusses how women have no voice, in today’s society. That is, due to the constant emphasis on their body and overall appearance. As a result, celebrities …show more content…
The message in the film Miss representation is as simple, but yet a powerful message. The message is that women are undervalued in society and are often discriminated against in society. This message is presented strongly throughout the film trailer. One is shown by how men are suppose to be perceive women. That is, women are to be controlled by men. In addition, a man’s desire is more puissant than a woman’s desire. The media itself is showing men that being powerful and having control of a woman, makes a man more masculine. Moreover, women are not seen as human-beings, but rather objects in society. Second, the film makes a good point by showing how looks affect a woman in politics. If a woman is running for a spot in a committee, she is most likely to lose. As a result, not that many women participate in politics. This occurs because the media does not see women in politics. In fact, the media is showing the younger women that women are not successful in politics. The outcome is that women will not want to lead a life of leadership. For example, Hilary Clinton was disrespected by the media and was expressed as someone who is unqualified, and only made it as far because of her

    There is hope for a better reality of Americans when the few come together as a group, exposing themselves and others, and the documentaries Tough Guise 2 and Miss Representation speak to men and women and how they can change their bad gender image sold to them by the media. Tough Guise 2 observes men bred by the media to be leaders in America’s violent crimes.
