Miss Reinee High School Classroom Observation

Tier one is about building relationships with the students in the classroom, their parents, and the colleagues that you work with. While observing I noticed that Miss Reinee is in regular communication with parents through out the day through either e-mail, phone, text, or journals. She also invites parents in for lunch on a regular basis to visit with their student for lunch. Another observation was that she is very eager to help colleagues when they need her assistance. For instance, another teacher needed help with filling out an IEP and she was more then willing to drop her work and help her as it was due that day. One things that I could recommend for this tier would be eating lunch with students family style and not exclude any one student. …show more content…
While observing I observed the teacher switch classrooms with two students to see if they would enjoy and behave better during circle time. They had success and are now switching on a regular basis. They offered a change of environment and it was very helpful to the students. To prevent potty accidents she offers regular bathroom breaks but has specific times for bathroom breaks too. She brings in kids that are potty training first, then those who are trained, and last are those are still in diapers but not training. It is very effective in keep students on a schedule and with keep accidents to a minimum. A recommendation would be to separate some students who feed negatively off of one another so that they are not in the same group or sitting near one another. This could be used to minimize chatty students and to minimize negative behaviros between particular students. Another recommendation would be to prepare the room for a student who might be too investigative for his own good. For instance, a student who likes to chew or eat anything should not have regular access to board books. I would place stuff in a way that their access is limited and other students' access is still

2nd ½ Day Observation, Mrs. Finnell’s 4th-grade Classroom, Jefferson Intermediate School in Rocky Ford, Colorado on 1/22/2016 On Friday, January 22, 2016, I had the pleasure of observing Mrs. Finnell’s 4th-grade classroom at the Jefferson Intermediate School in Rocky Ford, Colorado. When I first arrived at the school, the 4th-grade class was at lunch. With the principle’s permission, I wondered the halls and observe some of the 5th-grade classrooms that were still in session. The first thing I noticed was that the same posters I had seen at the primary school were posted on the walls. These being the school rules and the noise level posters. I was intrigued about this and asked Mrs. Finnell, who explained to me that this is a district plan that they have incorporated.…

Hypothesis Ms. Mundatuchundayil or also referred as Ms. M teaches second grade at St. Vincent de Paul. I have been observing this class for about seven months about every Wednesday. This is a Catholic setting where I had to attend Mass and was allowed to talk about religious views so it’s different than most practicums I hear about in class. From my observations, I hypothesize that Ms. M focuses on cultural responsive, DAP, and children’s behavior in order to manage and organize the classroom. Cultural responsive involves poverty, guidance, and linguistic competence which means interplay of genes, development, culture, and experience that defines common humanness and individual personality (Gartrell, 2014).…

While observing in Beth Johnston’s First Grade classroom at Eugene Field Elementary School, I have noticed some effective and ineffective classroom management practices that she uses while I have been in the classroom. One effective classroom management technique that I have observed is that Mrs. Johnston puts her student’s desks into groups of three or four. This is an effective technique because she puts her strong students with her not as strong students, which can help with the students who might need a little help staying on track with the lesson that they are supposed to get done. Also, Mrs. Johnston has changed the groups a couple of times since I have been observing in the classroom. This I believe is effective because the students…

Children face many challenges throughout their lives. The two major challenges are learning acceptable behavior and being able to regulate their own behavior while interacting with peers and adults. The problem in this case scenario rises when both boys Zachary and Harper continue their center activities instead of joining circle time, even after requesting by the teacher they still continue the activity, which irritates the lead teacher. Later Zachary pushes Harper and Harper starts crying. I feel the lead teacher who is angry on both boys owns the problem.…

Walking into Ms. Vanneman’s first grade class on the first day of my observation, I expected first grade to be an extension of kindergarten. I thought that first grade was the transitional period before real learning took place. I expected the students to still be learning about shape, size, color, the alphabet, and proper classroom etiquette. I was quickly proven wrong and my expectations were blown. This first grade class was reading, spelling, solving math problems from memory, writing paragraphs, and for the most part was really well behaved.…

Personal Teaching Theory Classroom management can mean many different things depending on who you are talking to. I have been working in education for the last four years of my life and I have been in different types of classrooms. I spent one year as a teacher’s aide in a TMD (Teachable Mentally Disabled) classroom and the last three years teaching in a computer lab. With all of that being said, I have found my definition of classroom management. I feel that classroom management is the ability to provide an atmosphere where the students are well-behaved, interested, and abide to all of the expectations of the classroom.…

During my first round of classroom observations I was only able to observe one classroom, but I definitely learned a lot from it. The desks in the classroom were all arranged in rows and all facing the front of the classroom and it made me reminisce about how I hated rows when I was in school. The students in this particular class were seen slouching in their desks, laying their head down, and not actively participating in class. There was no sort of classroom discussion and the students were forced to work independently (A. Ortiz, personal observation, September 27, 2016). After observations, I met up with a peer of mine and we discussed what we each observed.…
