Miss Reinee High School Classroom Observation

Tier one is about building relationships with the students in the classroom, their parents, and the colleagues that you work with. While observing I noticed that Miss Reinee is in regular communication with parents through out the day through either e-mail, phone, text, or journals. She also invites parents in for lunch on a regular basis to visit with their student for lunch. Another observation was that she is very eager to help colleagues when they need her assistance. For instance, another teacher needed help with filling out an IEP and she was more then willing to drop her work and help her as it was due that day. While observing I observed the teacher switch classrooms with two students to see if they would enjoy and behave better during circle time. They had success and are now switching on a regular basis. They offered a change of environment and it was very helpful to the students. To prevent potty accidents she offers regular bathroom breaks but has specific times for bathroom breaks too. She brings in kids that are potty training first, then those who are trained, and last are those are still in diapers but not training. It is very effective in keep students on a schedule and with keep accidents to a minimum. A recommendation would be to separate some students who feed negatively off of one another so that they are not in the same group or sitting near one another. This could be used to minimize chatty students and to minimize negative behaviros between particular students. Another recommendation would be to prepare the room for a student who might be too investigative for his own good. For instance, a student who likes to chew or eat anything should not have regular access to board books. I would place stuff in a way that their access is limited and other students' access is still
