My darling husband has been taken prisoner. Each day, I grow wearier. I miss his smile, and I know that our daughter misses him as well. Father and Mr. Lorry do try to bring me comfort, and it warms my heart to know they care, but their advice holds no hint of understanding me. Miss Pross has kindly brought me a sliver of relief, thank the Lord, by distracting me with discussions of the house. I do find myself worrying about the dust that is collecting. How bad would the house seem to the others in London? It would be embarrassment beyond expectation.

Oh! My poor Charles. He must be so anxious and horrified, feeling like he shall never be freed from that house of Hell, La Force. The revolution has hit Paris harder than I had ever thought .
