Acknowledging that peculiar means different from the usual or normal the reader can grasp sort of an idea that this book is about to be anything but normal. While the layout of this book is very intriguing the overall sequence of characters is strikingly unique. It may seem that Miss.Peregrine is the only unusual character due to the title but throughout the book you become aware of how many different oddities exist. The characters in this book are all monstrosities who acquire certain traits that set them apart from the general public. Such examples would be a levitating girl or the invisible boy. What sets this book apart from other fiction books is that Riggs uses actual photographs to give a visible idea of what the children in Miss.Peregrine’s orphanage look like. The extraordinary thing is that the black and white photographs that Riggs uses throughout the novel were found by him in people’s collections. The use of these photo’s helped shape the overall storyline and provided us with visible evidence to further interest the reader. Which in addition brings the reader to question What if these photo’s weren’t optical illusions at all and if not then what are the stories behind these

When reading old books, you expect some things to be different. Descriptions of people are written with slightly different words, “to-day” is used instead of “today”, dialogue may go on for pages with no reminder of who is saying what, and women always stay in the background. When you read books from the 1800s, you expects sexism, but what surprised (and frustrated) me was how subtle it often was. The Hound of the Baskervilles is one of the four sherlock Holmes novels, and it tells the tale of Sherlock Holmes and his companion Dr. Watson as they investigate a terrible curse that has apparently been visiting the Baskerville family and killing them.…
