Miss Peregrine is respected and listened to by her children. As she is a powerful ymbryne, there’s no reason not to respect her. Miss Peregrine is often called the Bird because of her peculiar ability. She can manipulate time and take the form of a peregrine falcon. When Enoch (one of the peculiars in the loop) says “Anyway, she can’t find out we been in here. She’ll hang us by our pinky toes!” (222) he knows Miss Peregrine will be mad, and he will be punished. Not only is Miss Peregrine teacherly, orderly, and powerful, but she is also very protective of her kids.
