In 2012 the early Miss Mariah Trevino of California found herself with food always in her hand, with very low self-esteem, with four best friends who were perfect weight for their age. To this picture add being one of the heaviest freshman high school cheerleaders on the squad.
When she told her mother, Mrs. Silvia Trevino, of her uncomfortableness with her weight, she conceded that she too believed her daughter was over weight for her age, and had been secretly discussing this with her husband on how to tell her daughter being overweight is not healthy at her age. She knew she needed to stop buying junk food, fast food, and sugar drinks as a mother. She also knew this was going to be the hardest thing she had ever done, because she never once told any of her three daughters that they couldn’t eat or drink anything.

Joining cheer freshman year was the first time she ever experienced an extra-curricular activity. There was no possibility of becoming a flyer in a stunt group because she was too heavy to fly, but maybe after exercising and turning her thick thighs into muscle, she would have a chance of being a strong fit base. In her words, “I looked in the mirror and saw someone who could be better if she could just find the will power in becoming a more active person” she told myself, I didn’t know where to start but maybe just starting off with a simple run could have a huge impact and leave her wanting
