Why did the marigolds mean so much too Miss . Lottie ? The late 1930’s during the great depression in bailtimore , maryland. A short story written by eugenia collier called Marigolds .The genre of the story is approching adulthood . the theme of the story is about There is beauty in life if you just see what you’ll get it . Another thing that i think about is life is like a book of chocolate you never know what you’ll get out it . Be the bigger personand respect your elderly.Lizabeth and the children gets tired of being in the house & got tired of swinging to the tire tree . Lizabeth mother had an domestic job and her father is uneployment . Therefore Lizabeth and the kids where home by there self . Miss lottie lived around the corner from us her house was very nasty . But only 1 thing stood out Miss Lottie’s marigold flowers . Those marigolds mesnt so much to miss lottie . Later that day mom & dad where gonr out . Lizzie & the kids decided to bother miss lottie . While miss lottie was watering her plants they hid behind bushes wanted to throw rocks at her. Lizabeth said hey give me that rock i can trow it better . lizabeth reched back & threw the rock righr into miss lottie’s marigolds . Miss lottie yell GET ON NOW GET AWAY . lizabeth threw another rock and it flew right into miss. Lottie plants Miss lottie caught lizabeth and her brothers & sisters . Later on that night mom and daddy showed up late at night aruging . Lizabeth was thinking about …show more content…
As lizabeth got oldershe really did realized that the marigolds meant so much to miss.lottie . At the age of 15 lizabeth thought she was grown . Lizabeth Told miss lottie she was very sorry & she acepted it .

My understanding about this short story was dont judge a book by its cover . this story shows alot of theme & symbols . Thats why the marigolds meant so much to miss. Lottie . There is beauty in life if you just seek it
