“The Soiling of Old Glory” photograph and the Alcatraz Proclamation given by a Native American rights group called Indians of All Tribes, show a resistance to Federal Government regulation that infringe human rights. The Indians of All Tribes being able to infiltrate the island despite a naval blockade was a show of courage. The language expressed in Document four shows sarcastic mockery for taking over the island from white settlers. It lists all the reasons it unsuitable for Caucasian inhabitants is similar to reasons white settles had to push Native Americans onto reservations. The Alcatraz event was largely symbolic to the indigenous and minority people in the U.S. The legacy of Native rule, dominion, culture, environmental injustice, redemption, and struggle for civil rights are the key issues the Indians of All Tribes (IAT) were fighting for.
