We made some finishing touches to make sure Karen looked her best, and she was ready to take on the stage. A crowd of young gentlemen, who also gave their time in order to help these girls have the best day ever, escorted each girl on the stage. It was heartwarming to see each girl get so excited to be with the boys. As Karen approached, she met eyes with the man of her dreams. She continuously giggled and pointed at the young man who was going to escort her on the stage. I held her hand to keep her calm because she was so excited. I could tell she was a little nervous because her hand was shaking, but I reassured her with a smile. I led Karen to the gentleman and hurried to the other side of the stage to meet back up with her. On stage Karen waved, smiled, and twirled in her beautiful pink dress. She looked absolutely beautiful.
Her talent that she was going to share this year included her best friend, Linda. Together, they danced to their favorite song in front of a big crowd. They were so nervous, yet so courageous in their efforts to face their fears, and they crushed it. The crowd roared in applause at the conclusion of the song and I could not have been more proud of her. As she ran off stage, I ran to give her a big hug. Karen taught me that I can be courageous as I face my fears, and to always dance. Dancing makes everything
