Misogynistic Behavior

The behaviors of Clinton, Trump, and the voters have all been influenced by stimuli, and the candidates are well-aware that their statements act as additional stimuli to voters, so they have to make certain that their statements are vastly supported in order to obtain the majority of votes when it comes time for the general election. The voters recognize that America has been heavily impacted by phobia-ridden sentiment recently due to terrorist attacks by ISIS who claim to be acting in the name of Islam. These Americans have learned to fear all Muslims due to extensive media coverage that focuses on terrorism. In the minds of some of these voters, the massive amount of coverage attributed to terrorism has led them to believe that all Muslims …show more content…
Although she had been calm, she became thoroughly upset and disgusted as the topic of Trump’s misogynistic behavior continued. During sensitization, a stimulus, such as the interpretation that the moderators harbor a political vendetta against the candidate, or sexist behavior, caused an increased emotional response in between the candidates, which was shown through their behaviors like arm flailing or eye-widening by Trump and Clinton, …show more content…
The voters also became sensitized when Clinton admitted to obliterating so many of her emails, since most of them had been operantly conditioned as children to learn that being dishonest is wrong, and Clinton shouldn’t have destroyed the emails when she had, according to Trump, received a mandate from the United States Congress to report evidence, which included these emails. As humans, it’s necessary for people to be in-tune to their external surroundings in order to interpret beneficial, harmful, or significant information, and to successfully adjust their behavior accordingly in order to react effectively to these stimuli. Therefore, in order to benefit from information presented to them, it was necessary for Trump and Clinton to review polls and public opinion to refine or maintain their opinions in public policy to achieve the most votes in the future. Likewise, in determining the best candidate for supreme public office, it was necessary for the voters to respond effectively to the candidates’ responses to their questions by agreeing with the candidate who had the best answers. All humans, especially those in a highly competitive environment, which is characteristic of presidential debates, must know how to respond to external

Instead of learning about the policies each candidate held, the people of America were fed negative information about other candidates and back-and-forth “locker-room talk”. For example, one accusation states Trump fosters xenophobia and islamophobia. Such accusations have made some Americans feel justified in their racist beliefs and have begun to express them openly. According to CNN, FBI statistics for 2015 showed a 67% increase in hate crimes against Muslim Americans. Hate crimes against Jewish people, African Americans, and LGBT individuals also increased.…

(Stephenson, Becker, 2016) A crime analyst named James Nolan has said hate crimes against American Muslims has showed “a real spike” because of candidates such as Donald Trump. There has also been a tape that has showed a woman who threw liquid on a Muslim woman and after bashing the religion of Islam, she also said she was going to vote for Donald Trump. She then said “so he could send you all back where you came from.” This clearly shows the influence Donald Trump has towards his supporters.…

Throughout feudal and medieval Europe, society was stricken with anti-semitic and misogynistic events. Both Jews and females suffered during this time, where scapegoating occurred regularly. Jews filled the role of scapegoats through being blamed for the killing of Christ, killing Christians and performing heretic-like acts. As a result, they have faced the brunt of European brutality, in events such as the First Crusade, Black Death, and Spanish Inquisition. As well, females were seen as inferior, gross, and in many cases witches.…

TS: In the Ibo society, the men express a misogynistic attitude toward women through derogatory language. CD: For instance, by killing a clansmen, “Okonkwo had committed the female [crime], because it had been inadvertent” (105). CM: The Ibo society counts Okonkwo’s felony as a female crime for it is unintentional and innocent which indicates that women are passive as to men are aggressive. Among the misogynistic ideas that were prominent during this time, women were considered inferior in the field of education. Many authors published works that suggested women should learn only enough to be a good mother. One such writing is Thomas Jefferson’s letter to Nathaniel Burwell, in which he speaks about his opinions on women’s education, saying, “Considering that they [women] would be placed in a country situation... I thought it essential to give them a solid education, which might enable them, when become mothers, to educate their own daughters” (Jefferson 502). This establishes the stance that women should be educated only up to the point where they can educate their daughters sufficiently.…

I, like many before me, consider William Shakespeare to be the best playwright the human race has seen. Yes, there is a language barrier that needs to be overcome to fully appreciate the text. But if the time is taken to understand his work then even his most misogynistic plays can be related to and applied to the modern world. This can be directly applied to his work Taming of the Shrew. Shakespeare wrote this play in the late 16th century in England, specifically some time between 1590 and 1592.…

Throughout the past election cycle, I have experienced many degrading comments and accusations of being a racist because of my political opinions. Although some of these comments may not mean any harm, I have taken them to heart. I am a conservative, and because of my view, some people with opposing viewpoints accuse me of racial intolerance. I can proudly say that I am not and have never been a racist or misogynist. All people have equal rights expressed in the constitution and I believe they should be treated as such.…

Misogyny is, by definition, the “dislike of, contempt for, or ingrained prejudice against women”. Misogyny is and has been a long-standing global issue that exists in nearly every single culture, and can predominantly be seen in entertainment, media, politics, religion, and the work force. Though misogyny is an immense problem all over the world, it has appeared countless times in the black community of America. I believe that misogyny in the black community, as well as globally, is the result of years and years of sexist traditions, gender roles, and racism. Feminism, for example is a movement that advocates for equal women’s rights, which is astounding, and I believe to be extremely important.…

Throughout history, men and women does not treat equally. Men had more privileges and rights, such as being able to vote, able to get a better job and able to get higher education. Even though, we have improved our livings as time goes by, sexism still exists today in our society. Gender types refer to the roles, behaviors, and expectations our culture assigns to those bodily differences. We are taught that gender differences are natural; therefore we didn’t notice how much we have been socialized in to them.…

First Presidential Debate After watching the first of three presidential debates, I felt that, despite the unconventional campaigns of 2016, the debate proved informative and revealing of both candidates. Moderated by NBC News anchor Lester Holt, the debate took place at Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY between candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. The primary topics of the debate were released one week before the debate (“CPD”). While the questions were not released prior to the debate, Lester Holt provided fair and satisfactory questions for each candidate. Assisted by the format which ensured equal opportunities to respond to both candidates, the questions did not seem to play to either candidates’ advantage.…

Misogyny In a quote by John Berger, “You painted a naked woman because you enjoyed looking at her, put a mirror in her hand and you called the painting “Vanity,” thus morally condemning the woman whose nakedness you had depicted for your own pleasure.” Over the course of history, views on women has changed drastically. Yet, to this day there is an incredible amount of misogyny roaming around in society. Even though there has been a great amount of growth in the way society thinks, people still have more to learn.…

Everyone has morals and beliefs that set a baseline for what they value. Values vary between individuals, but for many, religion is the root from where these values stem from. While it is good to morally question, today personal religious affiliation is increasing in collective matters and actions, expressed in politics, protests, and biased beliefs. It’s important to note that religion and politics are two different domains that should not intermingle, as religion is a personal ideology while politics embody a rational, collective process. Good politics are policy oriented and not concerned with external factors related to politicians and their personal lives.…
