Miscommunicated flirting The material in class that stood out to me the most was the lecture about flirting. More specifically, on miscommunicated flirting. I was emotionally impacted by this lecture because I am characterized as a flirtatious person. The material learned in class made me realize the common flirting behaviours that I obliviously portray. I had an emotional response to this lecture because I did not realize that I am flirting. Majority of the time I am just trying to be nice and unfortunately, it is misinterpreted as flirting. In class flirting was describe as a non-verbal behaviour that is used to attract someone. I assumed that flirting was more of a touchy behaviour. I thought flirting was communicated by contact, like hugging and constantly …show more content…
Majority of the time they usually tell me they have feelings for me. I awkwardly respond by saying I am not interested and eventually the awkwardness goes away, once they move on. By learning the different flirting behaviours, I will try not to do the specific actions mentioned in the lecture. It will be a challenge to restrict certain actions because I feel like some of the behaviours are a part of my friendly personality. For instance, smiling and laughing will be hard to control because I tend to laugh and smile quiet frequently. I also like to look at people, without making it obvious, so it may seem like I’m glancing, but in reality I am just trying to look at the persons outfit. Overall, learning the material affected the way I think about flirting behaviours because, I will now think twice before I do certain actions in order to avoid giving the wrong impression. This will improve my life by saving me the hassle of going through the awkward stage of people miss interrupting my behaviour as flirting. Not only, will I know how to not give off flirtatious signals, I will now not be so oblivious to people who are flirting with me, because I am more aware of the different

From the first activity, I thought Bradley’s words were melodramatic but as the lesson progressed I realised there was truth to his perspective. Taking inspiration from my initial thought my group decided to exaggerate the first scene starting with Aastha, Erin, Georgia and Maddi who all played the roles of futuristic robots. They conveyed their role by having their face faced downwards and only when I switched the ‘button’ on with an elongated ‘beep’ sound they began to start operating. They remain stationary with a neutral facial expression, arms parallel in front and rigid body posture, to convey they could only be operated by human commands. I portrayed my role as a chef by walking very frantically and rapidly, furrowed eyebrows and a scowled…

In Tovani’s Chapter 4, Real Rigor: Connecting Students with Accessible Text, the use of accessible texts to compensate for the challenging content presented in social studies textbooks is thoroughly analyzed. Tovani explains how social studies textbooks cannot be the only source of instruction because they lack the format to develop authentic instruction. Aside from being too stiff, textbooks are usually at a more advanced reading grade level than where students are currently at. In order for instruction to be comprehensive and meaningful, teachers have to be aware of alternative approaches for teaching social studies content.…

Previously I did not view this as necessary or valuable, but after reading his insights I understand the strategic value of these interactions.…

With any good relationship between two people, proper communication is the key to respecting one another and creating a solid structure for a long-lasting connection. Communication can make someone feel wanted, secure, and provide them with a sense of happiness in life. On the other hand, a lack of communication between individuals can cause a feeling of loneliness in someone and typically leads to the termination of a relationship. The issue of improper communication can be present with two females or two males, however, it most commonly exists between females and males. This likely happens because some males tend to engage interest in women for their looks, rather than their personalities.…

The two topics that resonated with me were Micro-aggression and the privilege statements. The statements made me realize that we take certain things that are so “normal” for granted. Simple privileges that I take for granted do not have to worry about where my next meal is coming from and that I press the handicapped button to open the door because it’s convenient. Like most of us college students that live on campus we have a meal plan but what about if you live off campus or simply aren’t in school at all? John Hughes wrote and directed the cult-like movie which is set in the 1980s called the Breakfast Club. The movie is about high school students that all do something wrong during school and end up in a day-long Saturday detention with an extremely strict principal that has them work towards a single goal. Throughout the movie the interaction among the different characters is very interesting and eye opening about how people can learn to get along and to communicate, The diversity of the group, variations between and among people, is easy to recognize as it consists of Claire who is the popular school princess, Andrew the big school jock, John Bender the bad boy, Brian the brainiac, and Allison the school outcast and basket case. The group seems to be in culture shock, the psychological discomfort of adjusting to a new cultural situation, at the start of the day since the five students are pretty much strangers to each other.…
