Miranda Becoming Stronger

Miranda became stronger over Life as we knew it. She grew a lot over the book and is a lot less selfish and more caring to others. Some examples are she learns to help out more, she became more hardworking, and learns to never give up. She changes from a child to a young adult who is independent over the course of the book.

One example is Miranda learns to help out more. In the beginning her mom made her food and she didn’t help. An example of this is “that way I don't have to watch matt eat breakfast or watch Mom at her house half lunch and feel guilty that I'm eating more than she is” (pg.118).in the middle she started to help more by going places for her mom. An example is “Mom asked me to bike over to Mrs. Nesbitt's to let her know, then to Peter's office to invite him. Johnny has been chopping wood from the trees Dad and Matt have been cutting down, so I was the most available.”(pg.146). By the end miranda helps out a lot since her mom got sick. An example of this is “It took every ounce I had to go back into the sunroom, but I did. Thank goodness matt have enough strength of help me pull Johnny first and then mom into the kitchen. I told Matt to stay there and I ran back in and got everyone's pillows and blankets.”(pg.301).

One thing from Partricia L. Harold's biography that inspired me was how she was able to overcome the hardships . There was a quote in her biography where she says "I knew that no matter what life threw at me, I would somehow handle it.". This stuck out to me because instead of giving up and letting her situation take over her life, she was able to gather herself together and take control of the situation. In her biography, it tells about how her father was never really there in her life, and when he was, he was only made negative impacts. It also describes how her mother struggled to care for her kids and provide what they needed.…

Family relationships helped Miranda’s family survive because if they were alone there was no way any of them could survive. For example, Matt, Jonny, and Miranda’s mom would have all died if Miranda didn’t take care of them when they had the flu. They wouldn’t of been able to get fed if Miranda wasn’t there to help because they were too sick. Environmental relationships help Miranda’s family to survive because if there were no trees Miranda…

When there was not food during the school year, Jeanette had to pick up untouched food from the trash cans just to eat. These types of examples show what Jeanette and her other siblings had to go through at a young age on their own just to survive. Taking the example of Jeanette cooking at a young age showed the lack of commitment from the mother but at the same time she wanted to her children to learn the value of being independent.…

The theme for my storyboard for the book Seedfolks by Paul Fleischman was about helping out in the community that you are in. I picked this theme because in Seedfolks all of the characters put in effort to help make the garden a better place. All of the characters had something against someone but they get involved in the garden because the either notice how the garden community were kind and helpful or they were forced to go by someone who thinks the garden will help their problems. The Character Sae Young is the main character in my storyboard. Sae Young worked in a laundromat, but one day at work a man came in with a gun under his coat and beat up Sae Young and she passed out because he kicked her really hard.…
