Miracles In Todd Burpo's Heaven Is For Real

Jesus said to the people around him, “Unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven.” In the nonfictional story, Heaven is for Real, Todd Burpo tells the story of his son, Colton, who claimed to have seen the face of Jesus in the Kingdom of Heaven while being operated on and showing no signs of being dead or not present. This was a truly extraordinary book and I would strongly encourage anyone, of all faiths and religions, to read it. The book really stood out for me. Miracles these days seem like a rare event. This story seemed like it was taken right out of a book in the Bible. It was fascinating how all of the details were specifically from a little boy who could not have possibly explained all of the events without a miracle. Colton is a unique child born into a happy and loving family. His father was a Preacher in Colorado and his mother was a teacher. A truly full-hearted and overwhelmed with love type of family. Colton was the kind of kid to light up a room with his bright blue eyes and golden blonde hair. …show more content…
When Colton described the way Jesus looked with a sash and “markers”. His “markers” being the scars from being hung on the cross. He described Jesus in a beautiful manner. Also, Colton’s parents could not find a picture of Jesus that correctly described the right features of Colton’s description of Jesus. Until one day when they came by a picture that a small girl had drawn of Jesus that Colton said was correct. The picture of the “Prince of Peace” is an amazing painting. I looked up the picture after seeing it in the book and it is truly outstanding. Colton was right, but I know a picture could never do everything justice. The eyes did look spectacular and his hair resembled the mane of a

The documentary, Two American Families, is about two American families (one white and one black) from Milwaukee, the Neumann and the Stanley family, who shared how they lived their lives for two decades. This documentary showed how difficult it was for these families to achieve the American dream, as they were affected by the varying degrees of poverty, unemployment, and poor economy. Watching the documentary, Two American Families, was quite emotional for me. I was able to put myself on these families’ shoes. The documentary showed an example of how a lot of ordinary American families live and face the daily struggles of life.…

Misleading discernment of Age, authority, and respect. After reviewing and reflecting on both readings, Cisneros's "Eleven" and Hughes "Salvation," these stories describe the lives of two different children in diverse environments who live the similar situations of pressure and embarrassment. The emergence in both stories of pressure and degradations are met by both children from people they look up to and should feel safe around them. Hughes did not have that option - if he had not stood up, or if he stood up and walked way - that would be the end of him. During the colloquium that was given last week there were several interesting points that were made. The colloquium was started with talking about ow how we as Christians should e open to learning and growing in everything at all times, and how we do not have to limit ourselves to only learning about one thing in a certain place or time. The next main idea that I was drawn to was that God is truth and we have no way of knowing the full truth because of our sin. It was stated that truth was taken when Adam and Eve first fell from sin and now we are confused by that truth, the example of the ping pong balls made a really good example for this idea as it showed how truth can be mistaken for something else so easily and that some tings that may look like truths are not necessarily true.…
